My Perpetual Adoration for Angela Lansbury

I’ve just noticed that the Hallmark Movie Channel is showing Murder, She Wrote reruns from 11 p.m. onward most nights. For months now, I’ve been sadly disappointed that the number of Murder, She Wrote reruns has dropped from about 10 per day on various channels to absolutely none. So this discovery soothes my soul.

I love Murder, She Wrote. Also Matlock and Golden Girls. Oh, and anything where Dick Van Dyke is solving mysteries. My friend Brad once told me I have the television viewing habits of an 80-year-old woman.  I a’m not ashamed. You know, I’ve read plenty of books and articles about famous writers and how they learned that they were meant to write.  In terms of writing itself, I’ve always wanted to do it. I’ve always loved it. I’ve always written little stories and cartoons and booklets from when I first learned to string letters together.

But in terms of a career as a writer, I learned to want that while I was watching Murder, She Wrote with my grandmother.  I mean, Jessica Fletcher had the best life possible, travelling around the globe from vineyards to theaters to jazz clubs to fashion shows to coffee plantations. All in the name of researching the next novel. Sure, someone got brutally killed every place she visited, but other than, it was pretty sweet. She even did a show on an archaeology dig…and what’s my next book about? Oh, yes. I am living the dream.

I also love The Golden Girls. I know we’ve talked about that before though! 🙂
