Other covers

A few weeks ago, I got a look at the German edition of The Well and the Mine, which has a pleasingly Children-of-the-Corn vibe. Here it is:

German edition

Wenn die Nacht anbricht

The title transfers to When Night Is Falling, which I think is lovely. I do wonder a little bit if people will pick up this book and think it’s a bleak post-apocalyptic struggle, then wonder what’s up with all the coal mining and fresh vegetables. Maybe it’ll draw in some Cormac McCarthy fans.  I like the look. And I liked Children of the Corn.

In Italy, the book will be published next October under the title La Notte Ha Occhi Curiosi, which translates to The Night Has Curious Eyes. I keep singing that to the tune of “The Night Has A Thousand Eyes.”

And while I’m at it, here’s the British cover. The book came out in the UK last fall. The tarnished silver and the rough table have great texture, which you can’t really see on a jpg. But, man, I love this spoon.

Yeah I think that German one looks like a horror book. But then all those people who expect to be terrified reading your book and not get any sleep will be pleasantly surprised, and will actually get sleep (you know, after they finish reading for the night). And who doesn’t like sleep?

See. I’m great a PR. No wonder I’m majoring in communications!
